It's always interesting to see the consistent leading edge of the FOY reports per species. Just this morning in Linn, I got my first Rufous too.

For the past 3 years, my FOY Rufous were: 3/12/2020, 3/16/2020 and 3/2/2020.

Subject: [midvalleybirds] FOY Rufous Hummingbird

A very hungry male showed up at one of our feeders this morning, on Riverside Drive in Linn County between Corvallis and Albany.

We have several year-round Anna's as well, and the Rufouses always upset the balance of power at the feeders. Lately the Anna's males have been chasing each other off while letting the females feed, which suggests nesting is going on. It's the only time of year I've seen them do that.
