Thanks to Susie Deagle for pointing the whopper in my original subject line! 

No, just an "ordinary" Black-headed Grosbeak. 

I look forward to the discussion of the likelihood of an actual Black-throated Grosbeak finding its way up here from South America!

Noticed this in the eBird daily alert. The photos look good. Very notable record for mid/late January! 

Ten or twenty years ago we might have even called it a "jaw-dropping" record, but the past 5 years have now produced at least three winter records of Black-headed Grosbeak in the mid-Willamette Valley region.
