This morning a Swamp Sparrow was in a marshy area on the south side of the Canal Pond at E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area (the pond southwest of the Angling Pond, northeast of headquarters).

Northeast of there I also ran across a female Oregon Junco that seemed to be missing her right leg. Her breast & belly feathers on that side had what looked like dried blood, so apparently a recent injury, perhaps a narrow escape from a small predator. She was hopping on the one leg and still able to fly well enough that catching her for a trip to rehab didn't seem like a good option.

Lots of crows and backlit gulls were flying back and forth over the area, going between the landfill and the yard-waste recycling center which also serves up grocery-store waste now.
