Interesting story here on Hermit Warbler research by OSU ornithologist
Matt Betts and colleagues:

https://www.opb.org/television/programs/ofg/segment/climate-change-heat-oregon-washington-hermit-warbler-birds/

Discussions of old-growth forests often focus on Northern Spotted Owls
as indicator species, and also Marbled Murrelets in the Coast Range.
This work seems to indicate that old-growth could have importance for
buffering effects of global climate change on other species including
Hermit Warblers.
