As John notes, there is a coordinated effort to monitor Vaux's swift
roosts, all up and down the west coast, which you can learn more about
at www.vauxhappening.org.

This project was featured in Smithsonian magazine seven years ago:

There were 1654 Vaux’s Swifts that swirled their way into the chimney
behind the Palace Theater tonight. (My counting of large groups is a bit
rusty but I think this is under the actual number.) Reported to Larry
Schwitters at www.vauxhappening.org as he seems dedicated to this
species . Best spot to observe in Silverton is behind the theater by the
Silverton Senior Center. This “old standby” chimney has usually (but not
always) been a hot spot for swift migration. It was gratifying to see
such a huge group again. Thanks to Grant C. for reporting on OBOL and
eBird two days ago.
