Hi Stephanie,

The Salem Audubon checklist is a good one to use for the 4-H Conference
& Education Center though you can probably skip most of the waterbirds
on the list.

My recollection of the site is that it's pretty well wooded, so the kids
could look for woodpeckers, chickadees, goldfinches and such.

The list of birds below (from a McMinnville-area birder) is nearly 36
years old, but you should be able to find most of these birds there
today (except for Lincoln's Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, and Varied
Thrush which aren't likely to be around in early August, but could start
to show up next month).

Best of luck,
Joel Geier
Corvallis area
