I made a quick trip to Ankeny NWR today and at the Pintail Marsh
observation blind off of Wintel Rd I had great looks at a pair of BLACK
PHOEBES about 15 ft away from me which were in the trees surrounding the
blind. They were originally out on the marsh before they flew in closer
so if anyone goes to see them they could be anywhere in the general
area. I also saw at least 5 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS in the Cattails
across the road from the Eagle Marsh overlook on Buena Vista Rd which
were visible through gaps in the trees, I also had another pair of YH
Blackbirds at the pull out next to the railroad tracks on Buena Vista Rd
but they disappeared quick so I think they will be easier to see at the
Eagle Marsh location.
