[birding] Neotropical nirvana at EEW today

Hi all,

Shorebirds were down at E.E. Wilson today, though there were still about
6 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS plus a GREATER YELLOWLEGS and a LESSER
YELLOWLEGS side by side on the NW corner marsh.

However, on the way there & back I ran across a male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE
sneaking through the Oregon ash trees along the canal on the south side
of the angling pond, plus heard two SWAINSON'S THRUSHES giving their
"whit" notes in that location, then saw a male LAZULI BUNTING fly across
the road about 1/2 mile north of HQ, with multitudinous YELLOW-BREASTED
CHAT, & COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and a few WILSON'S and YELLOW WARBLERS along
the way. Heading back home, I noticed some birds flycatching from atop a
dead tree in the patch south of the skeet range that had a wildfire a
couple of years ago. They turned out to be a flock of about 6 WESTERN
TANAGERS.

Looks like all of our regulars are here now, except for Common
Nighthawk, Willow Flycatcher, and Red-eyed Vireo.

Happy birding,
Joel
