Hi mid-valley birders. I recently moved to Albany from Portland and I
has hoping some of the locals could help me find some of the good
birding spots around Albany. I am keeping a year list for Oregon this
year which is currently at 162. I am still missing some of the less
common but regular species (and a few common ones) and I would like to
fill that list in a little more. I would appreciate suggestions on good
birding locations within 30-40 minutes of Albany (I'm a poor student so
I can't afford to drive too far). So far in the Area I've birded Simpson
Park, Jackson-Frazier Wetland, Hesthaven Nature Center, Lukiamute
Natural Area and William L Finley NWR. I would appreciate suggestions on
any other areas, especially areas within 10-20 minutes from downtown
Albany for a quick outing when I'm short on time. Here is a list of
birds I still need for my list that I believe are present in the area
(although some more likely than others), I would appreciate any help
finding these species:

Greater White-fronted Goose, Blue-winged Teal, American White Pelican,
American Bittern, Virginia Rail, Sora, Spotted Sandpiper, Solitary
Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs, Western Sandpiper,
Least Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitcher, Band-tailed Pigeon, Great Horned
Owl, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Western Wood-Pewee, Willow Flycatcher,
Dusky Flycatcher, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Black Phoebe, Western
Kingbird, Cassin's Vireo, Gray Jay, Horned Lark, Purple Martin, Bank
Swallow, Swainson's Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Black-throated Gray Warbler,
Hermit Warbler, MacGillivray's Warbler, Yellow-breasted Chat, Western
Tanager, Chipping Sparrow , Grasshopper Sparrow, Lazuli Bunting,
Bullock's Oriole

Thanks,
Austin Booth
