Hi Everyone,
Still have a few helpers that need to check in but thought I would give you a flavor of what was found this weekend here in Linn County. To this point we have 123 species accounted for. Notables include Sora and Virginia Rails at Arthur Dr slough, Blue-winged Teal at the Brownsville rice ponds and Halsey sewage ponds, Ruddy Ducks at the Halsey ponds and Diamond Hill wetlands, American Avocets at the DH wetlands, Loggerhead Shrike and Vesper and Grasshopper Sparrows along Belts Rd, Marsh Wren, Wrentit and Yellow-breasted Chat at the rice ponds, Chipping Sparrow at the base of Ward Butte, American Bittern seen flying parallel to Hwy 20 near Scravel Hill Rd, a Lesser Yellowlegs in a a roadside ditch along Pirtle Dr between Oakville Rd and Riverside Dr, Harlequin Duck along Hwy 20 in the mountains, Calliope Hummingbirds in three different sections of the county, and Mountain Quail and 22 Rufous Hummingbirds at Pat Waldrons home near Mill City. Also found
along Peoria Rd was a Lark Sparrow which is a really good bird for the county. I will update this list and provide a final tally once I have all the data in. A great count for Linn County this time around! If you happened to be birding Linn County on Saturday and wish to add your data to the mix, I would be glad to hear from you :)
Jeff
