Missed for yesterday's NAMC, but around today for our FOY detections here, HAMMMOND'S FLYCATCHER & WARBLING VIREOs.

We had a large flush of dendroica warblers during the week, as Bill Proebsting reported from upper elevations in MacForest. No Townsend's anymore, but still more HERMIT WARBLERs than we have breed here. BLACK-THROATED GRAY WABLERS had arrived in numbers a week beforehand. MOUNTAIN QUAIL are around, but not a sure bet to detect every day. More McGILLIVRAY'S WARBLERS around setting up shop, and tons of, okay a dozen, BLACK_HEADED GROSBEAK males singing, and females now in evidence..

Finally got good looks at our WESTERN BLUEBIRD pair legs, no bands on either bird. They have many nest boxes to choose from, and are defending several from a band of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS. The TREE SWALLOW pair took first choice and are housebuilding already. As are two HOUSE WREN pairs.

WESTERN TANAGERS arrived with the last major influx of dendroicas, but aren't in usual numbers yet. PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERs are very numerous. Also we're feeding 60+ BAND-TAILED PIG-EONS, with my perverse hope that northern goshawks again make a home nearby.
