This morning (3-28) there were 11 Bald eagles of various ages in the field
bordered on the east by 99W, on the north by Finley road, and on the west by
the railroad tracks. There were at least two different carcasses in the
field, and some ravens and Turkey Vultures were also present. Later a
gaggle of 11 Turkey vultures was circling over the hill to the east.

Yesterday evening a small flock of Turkeys was walking through the same
field.

I looked for Rough-legged hawks at the Prairie overlook at Finley refuge
yesterday and saw none-- this is the first time in several months that I
haven't spotted at least one, sometimes two, dark-morph Rough-legged hawks
in this location. I suspect they have moved north! Rough-legged hawks seem
much less common now and I haven't had any sightings since Jeff's recent
post.
