Hi folks,
One of the male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS at our place was doing display
flights right outside my office window this morning. I looked at the
feeder and sure enough, a female hummer has finally shown up.
Just now, after clearing some blackberries from a pile of concrete
debris that we inherited with this place, I tried to pry out an old
steel fence post. Instead I dislodged an OREGON ALLIGATOR LIZARD that
slowly moved back into cover.
Yesterday's birding highlight, after the woolgathering PINE SIKINS, was
an adult COOPER'S HAWK that soared over. Surprising as it may sound, it
was the first Cooper's Hawk that I've seen around our neighborhood since
December. Normally 2 or 3 spend the winter in E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area.
Happy birding,
Joel
