[birding] quail

I live at the bottom of 25th Street and this morning when getting the
newspaper (about 6:30) I heard a quail calling loudly.  It was still quite
dark, but I looked over to where the sound was coming and I could make out a
lone bird zooming across the neighbor's driveway.  I've seen quail around
here once before, but it doesn't seem to be very common in this
neighborhood.  It could become cat bait if it isn't careful.  Is this the
same area of "north Corvallis" that others live and have heard a quail?  It
sure surprised me.  Susie in Corvallis
