[birding] White-crowned Sparrows arriving/singing

Hi folks,

Hate to admit it but yesterday I was desperate for a particular fitting
to finish up a plumbing project (3" PVC-DWV tee), and Judson's was
closed, so I went by Home Depot and gave them my $3 for the year. A
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was singing on territory atop a small red-cedar in
the wasteland at the east end of the parking lot. Looked like one of the
gray-lored (pugetensis?) types.

We also had a White-crowned Sparrow turn up in our yard today, the first
one this year.

Earlier this morning I also heard both a male & female WILD TURKEY
calling from the woods, and a rapid twittering song which I think was
the VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS that have settled in -- though I thought they
didn't do that until later in spring.

The big-box store parking lots off Circle also had a flock of about 20
CALIFORNIA GULLS yesterday.

Happy birding,
Joel
