Hi all,
Inspired by Howard's post of yesterday, I headed to Finley to try to see the Lewis' Woodpecker and N Shrike.
I missed the Shrike but did see the woodpecker. Seen around 10:30, west of the main Refuge Rd, just north
of the Woodpecker Loop Rd and south of the big pullout. It was flying between the big oak trees up on the hillside.
Here are some of the other birds I saw:
At Prairie Overlook at 8:30
3 Savannah Sparrows
1 Ring-necked Pheasant
Western Meadowlarks
Bewick's Wren
Tree Swallows
At pond west of the restroom (south side of road)
Wood Duck pair
2 Pied billed Grebes
GBH
Mallards, Ring necks, GW Teal
At Old Headquarters
Downy Woodpecker
Western Bluebirds
Amer Kestrel pair
At Woodpecker Loop parking lot
White tailed Kite
At Refuge Headquarters
White breasted Nuthatch
Hooded Merganser pair
In Oak trees just north of WP Loop Rd
Purple Finch
