On 3-9 near Peterson Butte I saw a group of about 12 bald eagles all
circling together in an updraft under overcast skies as a line of snow-virga
approached from the west. It was kind of eerie. On 3-10 I saw a group of 9
bald eagles all soaring together. I think they had just taken off from a
lamb field that is bordered by I-5 on the west, 7-Mile Lane on the east, and
highway 34 on the north. Two more eagles were still in the field.
I've taken some more aerial photos of eagles at Peterson Butte lately, will
post when I have then cropped and adjusted.... More eagles seem to be
present around the area right now than several weeks or months previously.
I saw my first big group of Turkey Vultures all soaring together about a
week ago. I'm still not seeing very many-- they are definitely out-numbered
by the eagles at present. On 3-9 I spotted about 20 crows all harassing a
lone Red-tailed hawk, near Brownsville.
