[birding] Dunn Forest Common Nighthawks and Purple Martins

On the 110 Rd at Dunn Forest tonight around 9:15 pm we heard the 'peenting'
of a COMMON NIGHTHAWK and looked skyward to see 2 nighthawks doing their
zig-zaggy flight over the regenerating clear-cut.

 

Mr. and Mrs. PURPLE MARTIN were in the same dead tree they used last year -
the one on the left as you head up the 110 road that looks like Poseidon's
trident.  Mrs. Martin was peering from the nest cavity while Mr. Martin
stood watch on a perch near the hole.
