austin booth & i did mary's peak and fitton green this morning.
1. despite being 1st car going up we did not see any grouse or quail at all. that is except the pet chukar at the upper parking lot that would follow us around begging for food. it was about the only delight up there.
2. many HERMIT WARBLERS on the way down in a few places.
3. 1 GRAY JAY below the bottom gate so not very high up.
4. fitton green had at least 2 drumming RUFFED GROUSE in same place i had them in may.
5. there were chipping & white-crowned sparrows, but NO vesper sparrows. maybe we just missed them, but i think we covered the area quite well. there were lazuli buntings showing off and a pair of western tanagers.
6. does anybody know of a place to see vesper sparrow in benton county i can take tristen to??????????
