[birding] Finch - Oops!

Hi all,

 

Got my finch names mixed -up! I saw the bird again this evening at closer
range - it was a Purple finch!

The rosy color of it is not really purple, so I wonder why it's called
Purple! We don't get too many Purple Finches up here in the forest, so it
was a nice surprise!

Still so excited about the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak - I guess I expect to see
anything in my back yard!

Please accept my over-zealous first post on the possible Cassin's! I had
"rosy" on my mind!

The BH Grosbeaks - male, female and young are now at the feeders almost
constantly - it seems to keep away the BT-Pigeons (for those of us who are
not enamored with them)!
