Matthew,

When I read your post just now, I had similar thoughts to those shared by Jeff Gilligan. A Dusky Flycatcher on the Willamette Valley floor at this date would be about a month behind schedule. Conversely, Willow Flycatchers are the latest northbound migrant among Oregon's Empids. I've had migrant Willows on Eugene's Skinner Butte (where they don't breed) as late as 10 June.

As Jeff points out, both species utter a "whit" call note. To my ear, the whit of a Dusky is a bit more muted and "airy" compared to the slightly louder, sharper "whit" of a Willow, but the difference is subtle.
