[birding] Anyone heading to Klamath country soon? (yep,
another WVBT volunteer request)

Hi all,
First the promo:
Just wondering if anyone's starting to think about a trip to Klamath
County to look for Yellow Rails, Northern Waterthrush, etc. I just got a
note from John Sullivan saying that Yellow Rails are in at Summer Lake,
so I bet they're in at Klamath Forest NWR by now too!
Now the sneaky hidden motive:
I need to get a box of Willamette Valley Birding Trail guides over to
the Klamath Welcome Center, which is right along Hwy 97 south of Klamath
Falls. Sure would be nice if someone from the mid-valley happens to be
headed in that direction!
Thanks & happy birding!

P.S. Klamath Falls is also a great detour (by way of Hwy 58, then U.S.
Hwy 97) if you happen to be heading down to California's Central Valley.
The highway mileage from Corvallis/Albany to Weed by this route is
exactly the same as the mileage by way of I-5. The speed limit is lower
but you won't care, right? Since you'll be stopping to check Salt Creek
Falls for Black Swifts, Crescent Creek for N. Waterthrush, Hagelstein
Park for Forster's Tern, chance of both Oak & Juniper Titmouse in K
Falls, etc. Then there's Miess Lake, Lower Klamath NWR, etc. once you
get into California ... or nice birding with Black Terns etc. at the
Grass Lake rest area, if you're in more of a hurry by then.
