I went for a quick walk with my fiance and our dog at Willamette Park
yesterday and there was an abundance of birds. We walked south of the
parking lot past the sewage treatment plant to the end of the trail and
back. There were lots of SPOTTED TOWHEEs in the blackberry brambles.
Right before coming out into the grassy area I heard a PACIFIC-SLOPE
FLYCATCHER give its "tseeweep" call which to me sounds sort of like
someone whistling at their dog to come but very muted. Thats a year bird
for me but I'm not sure if I should count it since I didn't see it. In
the willows along the river in the grassy area I saw a YELLOW-BREASTED
CHAT fly up out of the willows in its very distinct way of flight. Also
present at the park were CEDAR WAXWINGS, WESTERN TANANGERS and lots of
other birds I didn't identify because I didn't have my binoculars.
