Columbia Estuary Report - 7/8/2010
I have been unable to post to OBOL since June 18 and while I have
every confidence the issues surrounding OBOL and its ISP will
eventually be resolved, shorebird season is coming up and I figured
I needed a more immediate alternative. If you are receiving this
report, you've been put on my short list of folks who either keep
Oregon Birding records or have the capacity to relay information to
the rest of the Oregon Birding Community. I will restrict my posts
to weekly reports and RBA's. If you don't want to be in my nexus,
let me know.
THE REPORT
A flock of 35 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS was soaring around in group
formation on Youngs Bay Tuesday July 6.
Fourteen BROWN PELICANS from the North Coast Rehab Center were were
tagged with USGS Bands and numbered color bands at Trestle Bay on
June 20. If you see any of these pelicans and can get a number
please contact contact me with the details (and report them to USGS).
I will relay the information to the appropriate local parties.
Shorebird activity here on the North Coast has been lackluster when
compared with reports farther south. I blame the heat low....
