Hello folks,
My last posting was prior to checking recent OBOL postings. I see that
several parties managed to see the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at E.E.
Wilson HQ yesterday in mid-afternoon (I was last over there at around 11
AM). Good to hear that!
And, as noted in one posting by Lars Norgren, yes, the bird does seem to
have a pretty wide circuit that it covers to the west and SW of HQ. Good
to finally have confirmation that it's using the woods on the south side
of the skeet (trap-shooting) range as some of us suspected.
And yes, it's not a good idea to go in those woods unless you can be
positive that no one's loading up a shotgun to blast at Clay Pigeons
(which by the way are not listable) from the other side. Those shot
pellets fly pretty far; some even wind up bouncing along the asphalt
road that runs on the east side of those woods, and lodging in the
cracks.
Happy birding,
Joel
