Amazing winter activity on the refuge.  Waterfowl and raptor extravaganza.  Kites, Baldies, Kestrels, Red-tails, Red-shoulders, Rough-legs, Harriers, Peregrines at the N. Prairie.  Tons of waterfowl on Cabell Marsh; Tundra Swans, Amer. and Eurasian Widgeon, GW Teal, Mallards, Shovelers, Ring Necks, Pintail, Scaup (few).  Cormorants.  Flock of about 100 Dunlin circling looking for an open log to land on.  Baldies and Red-shoulders sitting around the marsh edge.  Woodies and Hooded Mergies hiding in the ponds on the way in.  12 Great Egrets on one field just N. of Dawson Rd.  A Merlin tried to catch a Savannah Sparrow in the first willow at the pond under Pigeon Butte.  A fun day!
