P.S. By all appearances, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is wintering on
territory south of E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area headquarters.

Rather than send a posting to report "present or not present" each time
I go past this location during the week -- since I try to get out for a
lunchtime walk just about every day, and this is close by -- I'll mostly
just post results on the BirdNotes database.

If you go to www.birdnotes.net, on the home page you can find a list of
the recent counts. If I go through E.E. Wilson, whether I see the
sapsucker or not, you'll be able to see from my day list.

I'd encourage others to use the same method of reporting on birds that
are still around. Understandably, some birders dislike to make "Me too!"
postings, especially for birds that dozens of birders have already seen.

You can see this as an alternative way to record your observations, so
that those who are interested can check for recent finds. And of course,
you can also use this free, volunteer-run service to record non-rare
birds.

Happy birding,
Joel
