[birding] Bald Hill night life

Last night when I went out to get firewood (around 7:30) there was a pair of Western Screech Owls calling behind my house on the north side of Coffin Butte.  First I've heard this year.  The Great-horned Owls that were calling about an hour earlier were oddly silent, though there was an odd screeching noise reminiscent of a juvenile Great-horned...  

We've had one and sometimes two pairs of Great-horned Owls calling around my place on a nightly basis since just before Christmas.
