It was kind of dreary this morning, but you wouldn't know it by listening
to the birds! From the moment I left home, I heard Bewick's Wrens, Song
Sparrows, Golden-crowned Sparrows, European Starlings, House Finches,
American Robins, Spotted Towhees, and Dark-eyed Juncos singing like mad,
although the juncos sounded a little shaky. They haven't been doing their
little trill for very long. Towhees have recently started up too, but are
sounding quite confident!
A flock of American Goldfinches and Pine Siskins busily chattered together
in a tree, but I wouldn't say they were really singing.
While I rode through Pioneer Park, I heard Winter Wrens, Black-capped
Chickadees, Brown Creepers, and White-breasted Nuthatches singing along
with some of the others I'd already heard. The mammals were busy too.
Townsend's Chipmunks, Douglas' Squirrels, and Western Gray Squirrels were
calling this morning.
