A Black-headed Grosbeak has joined the many Evening Grosbeaks at the feeder this morning. There are 5 Rufous at their feeder with 2 hovering patiently behind them for the next open spot. That's the most I've seen sitting on it at once without one of them chasing the rest off, they must be cold this morning! On Tuesday, there were 4 Acorn Woodpeckers in the tree above the feeder, I'm waiting for them to figure out the suet.
The Lewis' Woodpecker continues on its oak on the fire road south of Bald Top. Will be interesting to see if he sticks around into May. I also had reports of an American White Pelican on Cabell last weekend as well as some peacocks on the south end of the refuge.
