Wonderful view of a male HERMIT WARBLER in McDonald Forest this afternoon,
about 100 yards above where the Uproute trail joins the McCulloch Peak road.
Big mistake not bringing the camera.
The dog and I walked from home, up Skillings, Alder Creek through Starker
Forests to McCulloch, then home via Oak Creek. Also had NASHVILLE and
TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, as well as many WILSON'S, BLACK-THROATED GRAY and
ORANGE-CROWNED. Saw and heard several PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS and a
HAMMOND'S. Almost as good a mix as Joel gets stepping out on his porch,
though after three and a half hours walking and a couple thousand feet
elevation gain, not nearly as efficient.
