[birding] E.E. Wilson Yellow Warbler and (just maybe Yellow-bellied?) Sapsucker

Hi all,

On a breezy early afternoon walk at E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area, I heard a
singing YELLOW WARBLER in the woods just south of the skeet range, then
a few minutes later, saw a SAPSUCKER fly out of the same woods all the
way to the walnut tree on the south side of headquarters.

Yes, this is the same tree that was favored by the Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker that was around in the early months of this year. The bird
landed in the upper branches of the tree, where I could just make out
(from 1/4 mile away) that it had some red on the head. It could equally
well have been a Red-breasted Sapsucker, for all I could tell. I hustled
around for a closer view but it disappeared by the time I got there.

The last time I saw a sapsucker in this tree was 31 March, and that one
also disappeared before I could get a decent view.

No Solitary Sandpiper on the south-end scrape today, though the GREATER
YELLOWLEGS continues. I tried to scrounge up a Dusky Flycatcher to fill
Rich's request, but with this wind I couldn't find any flycatchers at
all.

Happy birding & good luck to the birdathoners,
Joel
