At around 6:30-7PM tonight there was one SOLITARY SANDPIPER poking around in the mud at Sunset Park, visible from the boardwalk. This was a nervous little bird who didn't like Don & me getting very close. The most obvious feature were black central tail feathers surrounded by barred outer tail feathers when he flew, olive legs and a nice eye-ring.
It was great to have COMMON YELLOWTHROATS and BARN SWALLOWS around again. WESTERN BLUEBIRDS are nesting in one of our boxes.
