This is a strange coincidence. Yesterday morning (4/13) I was driving down Greenberry Road and saw a very dark hawk. It was facing away from me on a telephone pole as I drove toward it. I was heading east and even against the sky I thought, "That is the darkest hawk I've ever seen around here." I looked over my shoulder after I passed it and it appeared completely black except for a large amount of yellow at the base of the bill. My first thought was black hawk. I was heading to a meeting in Portland and was running late and did not have binoculars. I now regret not going back for a closer look, I called Molly but she wasn't in the area.
