[birding] Oregon Garden

We took advantage of the great deal at the Oregon Garden Inn: room, food,
wine, etc. and stayed Thurs. evening. Today we did a grand tour around the
Garden. My first, I'm ashamed to say. It was chilly but very pleasant and
bright. Not that many unusual birds, but we did have a great view of a
red-breasted sapsucker singing (or should I say calling) at the top of a
small tree. My husband looked through the bird book when we were home later
because he wanted to check on the finch that he saw. He is sure that he saw
a Cassin's finch. I wish he would have pointed it out to me since I've
never seen one. I spied a pair of brown creepers in the oak grove-the
female darted into a big crevice in the tree while the male went after the
entryway-trying to remove some bark to make it a bit bigger. Susie in
