tristen & i along with an 11-year-old budding birder did some of north corvallis yesterday afternoon.
1. we planned to walk up coffin butte but needed a raft or a surfboard. there was an orange-crowned warbler at base of trail.
2. we walked the sapsucker area on south side of e e wislon and found nothing.
3. we walked the swamp sparrow area on north side of e e wilson and found only 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW. there were not even many of usual suspects. we did see 1 OSPREY and heard a couple yellowthroats..
4. toketie marsh had just some lesser scaup.
5. adair park (not sure the name) had acorn woodpeckers as usual and a coupe WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES.
6. it almost seems like winter birds are gone, residents are raising chicks oir on eggs, and migrants are not here yet.
