[birding] Golden Eagle soaring east, Barn Owl last night

Hi all,

Wil alerted me just now to an eagle soaring over Tampico Ridge and
continuing over our house and eastward over E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area. I
managed to get a look as it made a couple of lazy circles over the
wildlife area, then continued east and out of sight. I could see from
the dihedral angle of the wings & head & tail proportions that it was a
GOLDEN EAGLE -- probably an adult since Wil picked up a pale sheen on
part of the head. Might be looked for over Albany/Scio/Lebanon in the
next half hour.

Also, last night after dark Martha and I heard a BARN OWL call twice --
the first one that we've heard all year. The nest boxes at E.E. Wilson
have appeared to be unoccupied.
