Hi folks,

I detoured past the Camp Adair Rifle Range this morning (April 6) and
saw two ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were still there -- looked like a male and a
female, but this time they were perched about 150 yards apart along the
north edge of the fenced area, rather than next to each other.

Another lingering bird in that area was a GREAT EGRET in the field
across Robison Rd. Seems like it should be headed to the nesting grounds
by now; it was sporting plumes and had some blueish on its bill which I
think goes is part of their appearance during breeding season.

Today also brought our first flyover OSPREY and singing LESSER GOLDFINCH
of the season to our yard. The Osprey briefly perched in one of the tall
Douglas-firs up on Tampico Ridge. ORANGE-CROWNED and AUDUBON'S WARBLERS
have been singing throughout the day, along with a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET.

Happy birding,
Joel
