Back in the same spot as we last saw one in late spring, the hawk was perched on a power pole just north of Llewellyn Rd. on Tuesday.

Also two White-Fronted Geese in Cabell Marsh with the Western Grebe on Monday, Dusky Canada geese increasing daily. As Joel mentioned, the bluebirds and meadowlarks continue to put on a good show at Field 1 and North Prairie, bluebirds hovering like kestrels and meadowlarks singing away from perches along the road.

We did a late burn on Field 31 (the interior restoration field southwest of the prairie) on Tuesday and they reported Meadowlarks pouring out of there, the harriers were quick to scour it after for any confused rodents and Nate Richardson reported a Northern Shrike watching from the edge of Middle Prairie. Last week to get out there before the closure on November 1...

Enjoy!

Molly~
