I took a little 2 hour walk around Thornton lake in North Albany. I
tried to spot the BLACK-THROATED SPARROW again, no luck. But I did do
pretty well other than that.
On the lake were many PIED-BILLED GREBES, and WOOD DUCKS. There was a
lone male NORTHERN SHOVLER, 5 RING-NECKED DUCKS. Joyed to see some
GADWALL. Many KILLDEER. And on land there were some GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS, along with some FOX and SONG SPARROWS. A lone TREE SWALLOW
which was pretty surprising. An ACORN WOODPECKER was pecking on the
trees, the neighboor said he heard and saw a PILEATED WOODPECKER so I
guess that was my main goal, but no such luck. But it was a pretty
decent walk and I got to see some wonderful birds.
