1. nanette & i spent 2 hours walking the entire circumference of th meadow
adjacent to the top parking lot of mary's peak. it was a beautiful day up
there with great views.
2. no cassin's finch or any other finch we might misidentify.
3. in fact there were not many birds other than violet-green swallows
everywhere. looking at tons of conifers (with wonderful cones) for 2 hours
we had 2 nuthatches, 2 chestnut-backed chickadees, 2 goledn-crowned
sparrows, and zero juncoes.
4. we had a flyover of about 35 EVENING GROSBEAKS, and a few western
bluebirds.
5. at some stops on the way down we did have 2 HERMIT THRUSHES, 2 VARIED
THRUSHES, and lots of juncoes.
6. now we put some bird seed at 3 locations - hopefully will attract finches
and others
a. the last pullout on left before fetting to top parking lot
b. near the picnic table on left as you enter the top parking lot
c. near the signs on southeast corner of top parking lot.
