Just in case you needed something fun to do Sunday, I wanted to remind folks about the Big Sit at Finley this weekend. It is on the 11th and instead of 24 hrs, we're going to be there from 6:30am until however late anyone would like to stay out (or at least until the barn owls make an appearance). Sunrise is at 6:54, sunset is 6:35. It looks to be a promising weather forecast for a lovely fall day.
I will try to make sure someone is there all day for those of you that can come out for just an hour or two. Please let me know what times work for everyone. I have to be in town for a few hours during the middle of the day and would appreciate it if someone can cover the circle then. I'll be taking pizza orders for when I return...
To make things easy (and the great combination of habitat types), it will be at the same location as last year.
Parking will be at the pullout on Bruce Rd just west of Muddy Cr. Walk to the west and go north on gated gravel road to the junction of the road up to Cheadle Barn. The circle will be on the dike to the pond on the way up to the barn. I will have a vehicle there to shuttle groups or if you have chairs and gear you'd like delivered to the circle, I'll be watching for cars at the parking area. Will have my phone on, too: 760-3813.
Bring: warm clothes, snacks, chairs, blankets, scopes, etc and let's hope for a good turnout from our local and migratory birds. Our goal is to beat the 60 species we recorded last year, the more eyes the better. Maybe we'll get lucky and pick up one of those Lewis' Woodpeckers that have been recently seen down that way!

Hope to see you out there,
