Hi all,
Today, I saw 2 white geese at Finley, off of Bruce Rd, just southwest of the overlook. They were amongst
assorted Canada Geese. I think they were Snow Geese, with larger bill and more of a crescent shape where
the bill meets feathers, rather than the smaller bill and straight line of the Ross's Goose. They were in the field
when I arrived at 2:00 and still there at 4:00.
There was a male American Wigeon in McFadden Marsh that was a bit different color than the others. He had the
green "eye patch" but his forehead was a more orangy buffy and that color continued below the green eye patch.
His body was still the brown of the American Wigeon. I have read that the forehead color can be quite a range of
colors but that it continues below the eye patch seems unusual.
This Wigeon was "hanging out" with an American Coot! I passed by the location a couple of hours later and the
Wigeon was still trailing after the Coot. Kind of funny!
