[birding] Treatment pond and treatment center birds, north Corvallis

Hello folks,

I had a bit of spare time this morning between dropping off a kid at
school and a doctor's appointment, so I detoured past the sewage
treatment ponds at Knoll Terrace trailer court (off Pettibone). There
were plenty of BUFFLEHEADS and other ducks but nothing out of the
ordinary.

Then I still had about 10 minutes, so I tried birding around the parking
lot on the west side of Good Samaritan Hospital and Corvallis Clinic.
The wooded ravine just north of where Satinwood Dr. ends was pretty
productive, especially around where the hospital grounds crew has been
dumping leaves/grass/shrubbery clippings over the edge.

In a few minutes I saw one WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and about five SOOTY
FOX SPARROWS plus lots of JUNCOS and SONG SPARROWS, plus a few
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS. I also heard some GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and one
HERMIT THRUSH. It seemed like there should be some Townsend's Warblers
around but I didn't see or hear any.

So if you find yourself up at the clinic/hospital with a bit of time to
kill, this might be more interesting than sitting inside -- especially
as magazines have been removed from the waiting rooms! I was told that
this was due to flu season.

Happy birding,
Joel
