1. just an update that the weather forcast has gone the wrong way. it looks like it may rain most of the day on the coast.
2. hopefully we will at least get the 1st hour at boiler bay ok, and hopefully there will be some breaks in the rain, but it doesn't look as good as it did a couple days ago.
3. i will do my best to not practice to be miserable.

1. this saturday is the all day corvallis audubon trip to the coast.
2. Meet at Benton Center 757 NW Polk Ave at 5:30 AM (yes that is 530 because we have just lost daylight savings!!!) to carpool. Bring Binoculars and scope if you have 1, water, lunch (if weather is good we will eat outside looking at birds), and sturdy shoes/rain gear? some will stay with gail andrews on the coast and they will meet us at boiler bay at 7.
3. we are leaving at 530 so we can be at boiler bay at dawn (7 am). this is in the prime time fall window of seabird migration where we should see lots of scoters, loons, grebes, and hopefully shearwaters and murrelets. the best time there is the 1st hour of the day so we will go for it!
4. we will then go to depoe bay where we should see black turnstones and surfbirds and hope to get lucky with a rock sandpiper.
5. then on to newport where we will check the jetty and behind the science center.
6. weather forcast says low 45 high 53 with "showers" - in other words no idea what we will hit.
7. since we are leaving so early i hope to get back to corvallis at 330, no later than 4.
