with all the avocets, ibis, forrester's terns being seen at fern ridge, basket slough, etc, nanette, marcia cutler & i ventured out to finley hoping to get lucky - we didn't. but it was a nice day for a walk.
1. we walked all the way past cabell lake out to bottom of pigeon butte.
a. there were marsh wrens & yellowthroats all the way. and never out of sight of osprey
b. still 2 american wigeon
c. a CHAT near the beginning of the trail
d. 1st WILLOW FLYCATCHER of the year
c. 1 calling PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER (we did not see it)
d. other birds were warbling vireo, yellow & wilson's warblers, savannah sparrow, lazuli bunting, american goldfinches, purple finches, 1 immature bald eagle.
2. at mcfaddin marsh
a. WILSON'S PHALAROPE acting like on territory east of walk out to gazebo
b. no blue-winged teal, but marcia had 3 males yesterday
c. hear 1 virginia rail
3. on hq road near railroad tracks was a WESTERN KINGBIRD.
