P.S. Also of interest, while walking home back along the edge of the
conifer plantings south of Coffin Butte along Hwy 99W, I heard what
sounded like the near-nest alarm calls of a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, several
times close by. There's been a pair around on the ridge all spring.
A couple of HERMIT WARBLERS were singing back in the conifers. Counting
numerous CHATS & YELLOWTHROATS at E.E. Wilson, plus ORANGE-CROWNED,
YELLOW & WILSON'S WARBLERS heard here & there, in addition to the
MacGillivray's and B-t Grays mentioned before, it was a pretty nice
assortment of warblers for a walk in late May.
