Hi folks,

This morning I spent a couple of hours in the north unit of Luckiamute
State Natural Area (Luckiamute Landing tract), as a belated contribution
to the Polk Co. migration count since circumstances prevented me from
getting out yesterday, and I think we only had two others in the field
yesterday.

WILLOW FLYCATCHERS have shown up (2 seen & heard giving "pit" calls, not
"fitz-bew"s yet), along with lots of YELLOW WARBLERS and SWAINSON'S
THRUSHES. A male MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER was singing along the path in the
gallery forest, near where the tall larkspur is putting on its usual
amazing floral display. There were lots of WILSON'S WARBLERS and COMMON
YELLOWTHROATS but notably few other warblers.

A migrant flock of WARBLING VIREOS was singing in an area where Red-eyed
Vireo sometimes shows up, but I didn't see or hear any of the latter, nor
any Cassin's Vireos for that matter. A few migrant GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS
were still around, along with lots of nesting WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS. I
found SAVANNAH SPARROWS but no Vesper Sparrows in the patch where Vesper
Sparrows used to nest.

Sorry to say, these birds were "motor-assisted" since I couldn't get my
bike fixed in time for this.

Happy birding,
Joel
