Although we didn't really bird while out at Finley for the Barns and Bluegrass event on Saturday, we made mental notes of a few species observed throughout the day.
Western Meadowlark singing away on the prairie (beautiful wildflowers right now!!!) Savannah sparrows also common around there and a nesting pair of Western Bluebirds in field 1.
Osprey, cinnamon teal and wood ducks at Turtle Flats and bushtits continue nesting near the bathrooms
Cliff swallows were busy building nests on the Cabell Barn
Barn swallows were busy at both the shop barn and Cheadle Barn, another pair of bluebirds near the shop barn
Our foy Yellow Breasted Chat was heard in its usual spot between the office and Feichter House as well as wrentits on the other side of the office
House Wrens, Black-throated gray and orange-crowned warblers were in the oaks near the Feichter barn
Barn owls were seen in the Cheadle Barn
Acorn Woodpeckers heard near new office building
Nothing special but fun to contribute the regulars to the NAMC.
Thanks to Sallie Gentry and BA Bierle for organizing a fantastic event at the refuge!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Molly~
