1. as tom said there was still 1 RED KNOT and 2 WHIMBREL on south side of bruce road
2. also there were 4 BLACK-NECKED STILTS and YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD on north side in the scrape as well as greater yellowlegs. also horned lark in the field north of scrape
3. on south side also BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER with many dunlin and least sandpipers.
4. the whimbrels arrived between 1030 and 1115 so shorebirds are on the move in this miserable weather. other things could be showing up.

Subject: [birding] Finley: RED KNOT, WHIMBREL
Birders,
Just back from Finley (south side of Bruce Road) where the RED KNOT(S) (found this AM by Doug Robinson) was/were still being seen as of noonish and Rich and Nanette Armstrong and Paula Vanderheul had a pair of WHIMBRELS fly in. Not too often I can see two county birds in a day. Many thanks to Doug Robinson and the Armstrongs for sharing their sightings and scopes!
Cheers,
Tom Snetsinger
P.S. the knot(s) were/was last seen just west of the tractors on the south side of Bruce Road and the WHIMBRELS were along the channel about one third of the way to the tractors from Bruce Road (and a bit west of the tractors). Viewing conditions were bad with driving rain.
